Feel free to discuss the Jeopardy Maker here.  Feature requests welcome as well, though I cannot promise new versions in the immediate future.  For those looking to share or check out Jeopardy Maker games others have made, see Jeopardy Maker Templates.

Quote
Jeopardy Maker is a free, fully-featured program to make your own Jeopardy games, complete with animations and music.  Much easier than any Powerpoint or Jeopardy Template. All you have to do is enter the questions and answers.  Categories, rows, columns, daily doubles... are all generated automatically. The program supports any number of rows and columns (the max. being until your computer explodes) as well as many other optional settings (# Daily Doubles, Final Jeopardy, point values, etc).

FAQ
Have a question not answered here? Just ask it! Post a comment!

Nothing happens when I run it, just a blank window.
Try moving the folder to the desktop.  Windows has become more picky about where programs can be run from.

MAC says the program is damaged and can't be opened, should be moved to trash.
Try a solution described by Native Instruments here: https://support.native-instruments.com/hc/en-us/articles/360001160929-Error-Message-Product-name-is-damaged-and-can-t-be-opened-You-should-eject-this-disk-image-Mac-

MAC says the program is trying to access other files.
Click Ok.  It is trying to access the questions/answers files.

Fullscreen or window options load but black screen after on MAC.
This is suggested by another user: Right-click on the app in the folder and click on "Show Package Contents," click on the "Contents" folder, click on the "MacOS" folder, and then click on "Flash Player" (which is the only thing in this folder).

Can I add more rows/columns?
Of course! In the setup.ini, there will be a setting for columns number numcats (towards top, under Main).
For questions, simply add more lines of questions in your text files; logically, keep all number of questions the same (it's a rectangular table so you can't have one extra question jutting out before the others).

Can I add pictures or diagrams to questions and answers?
Example from readme:
Bold - text
Italics - text
Underline - text
Linebreak/Newline -

Image -
<img src='filepath to image' />

I have different sets of questions.  How do I avoid making a new game for each?
Copy-paste the questions folder.  You can maintain separate question groups this way.
In the setup.ini, edit the line dir= so it reflects the folder you want to use.  For example, it is by default dir=questions/ meaning it will use the questions folder.

Point values have a weird character afterward when I leave the category files blank.
- Leave spaces in place for the lines rather than actually having an empty file.

You'd have to replace the existing sounds with your own file (go to sounds folder).

You might want to consider Gameshow Maker - which is similar to Jeapardy Maker but more powerful and has more settings.

First off, thank you for such a nice program. I love it so much that I decided to register to be able to post to this forum. I have a few questions:

1. How could I expand the Categories cells? Currently, they're too small to accommodate something like "Footwear & Eyewear," much less full sentences that have wordplay. I don't want to shrink the Categories font size at all.
2. Do you have any foreseeable schedule for evolving this program?

Also, it would be nice if we could review the question after we see the answer. This helps when the question is very long and participants want to see how the question and answer fit.

Thanks again and good luck with everything.

Hi, you would most likely have to increase the table size or reduce the number of categories so there's more room.

I don't believe I'll be expanding Jeopardy Maker itself.  However, it might be worthwhile to check out Gameshow Maker which is based off of Jeopardy Maker but with a lot more customizations available.  It is capable of simulating Jeopardy as well.

The setup.ini file can be opened as a text file.  There are comments there to describe what each setting does.

If you need help with a certain setting, let me know.

Hi, can you be more specific? Are you having trouble running the program and if so, how far did you get?

Hello if you add or delete the number of lines in the column...txt files in the questions folder, it will automatically change the number of rows.

If you delete or add more column...txt files in the questions folder, it will automatically change the number of columns.

The questions folder should not be deleted as the game cannot run properly without it.  If you tell me how many columns and rows you want, I can upload a copy of the questions folder so you can see an example.

Hi I've attached a zip of the questions folder.

Just delete your current questions folder and put the new questions folder in after extracting the zip; note to delete, not copy-paste over the old one because otherwise the old extra columns will remain.

If you look at the attached folder, you will notice the number of "column#-..." files only goes up to 4.  The number of lines in each file are 8; be careful not to add extra lines while editing the questions.  Wordwrap is fine - it's only when you  hit enter that it counts as a new line.

* questions.zip (1.96 KB - downloaded 948 times.)

Thank you
it's ok, still have a problem with it from me it is not full screan, I do not know why I do not display in the intro,

but I want to ask, we use it for competition for the 4 groups, we must expect some points outside the pc on paper, right?

you headlong into the future and some of the counter?
