If you have any trouble with the guides in the Creating Zoo Tycoon Material article post them here.

Your guide is excellent and I often use it as a reference for what some of the properties mean. Suggestions though:

1) Include the stuff from Ape 2.5 if possible please. I'm kinda confused on a few of them. Thanks! wacko.gif

2) Could you have a bit more detail on the stuff in the Behaviors section like:

a) What does the number represent in fPlayTime (repeat animation times? Time animation lasts?...)

b) How can you make two seperate swim animations work? (do you add to bInWater and change percents?)

That'd make your guide really great! sm_thumbsup.gif

Thanks! biggrin.gif

For everyone who hasn't noticed yet, the guide has been updated and there are currently 8 pages I think!

Flamethrower,
those are good ideas, I will see what I can do. I actually had written descriptions for the things in A.P.E 2.5 but then deleted them because not everyone likes A.P.E 2.5! I will include them in the next update! As for the other stuff, I can only try.

Thanks. BTW, I meant swim instead spin. Typo. wacko.gif

So far, I found fPlayTime numbers are REALLY high. Put like 5 and it'll play the animation (10 frames) over and over for over 10 whole minutes. blink.gif I usually leave it around 2.

What graphics program would you recommend using?

Posted by: flamethrower Feb. 12 2004, 07:58 PM
This is just me but these are great:

1) RCT2 Object Editor is FANTASTIC at recoloring. You can also choose which colors to recolor. For example, say you only want to recolor the box on the Gift Shop, so protect all other colors except the color of the box and you just run over it with another color. Only the box changes. Plus it's free!

Just search RCT2 Object Editor on www.google.com. You want to have the most updated version of the Object Editor. I think it's 1.22.

It's for making RCT2 objects, but you can cut and paste your images into it, recolor and then cut and paste back.

The most updated version is best because you could put in large images up to about 7x7 tiles (in ZT) into the program.

The red paint brush is the recolor tool. Put check marks under the colors you want to protect or click "Protect" to check/uncheck all. Cut your images out from Paint or something and paste it into the canvas. Just start recoloring. When you're done, cut and paste back.

BTW, to cut/paste, just right-click the image.

2) Paintshop Pro 8 does a pretty good job. It's not as good as the RCT2 Object Editor when it comes to recoloring but everything else is triapprove.gif

However, THIS COSTS MONEY! triwonder.gif

3) Adobe Photoshop - I haven't used any version above 1 so I really don't know. 1 seemed okay though. triapprove.gif But I prefer PSP8, it's not as complicated.

4) Paint. The default one really isn't too bad. Of course, if you're gonna make complex images, you might want to get something better. trismile.gif

Hope this helps! triapprove.gif

I personally use Paint for everything except recolors! It may not be the most powerful program but it does get the job done and it is what I have gotten used to.

The default one?

@Kentro below: I don't know but some people claim there's a full version of Paint or something. trifear.gif

Is there any other Paint? trifear.gif

Dear all knowing Admin,
Your busy, I know how you feel, but please take some time out of your busy schedule to answer my question - how do I get the graphics program?! I search, and I search, and i search some more, but I still can't find it! triread.gif Anywho, please get back to me. trispin.gif

Posted by: Quivaz May. 30 2004, 08:00 PM
Your cutting it close! trilaugh.gif Im going to be posting my last post in like 2 minutes! trijump.gif But, to answer your question, there isn't any particular graphics program you have to use. Many people use different programs and all work fine. But if you are hoping to do recoloring or something plain old paint isn't going to be able to handle, try searching for Paint Shop Pro on the web. Most people use that and can help you with it. I wish you the best of luck. Bye!

yeah, I use adobe photoshop 7 but its probab;ly one of the most professional and expensive out of them all

Posted by: flamethrower May. 31 2004, 11:57 AM
There is the RCT2 Object Editor if you ever wish to recolor without buying something expensive. It's basically free to download.

How do you import the image you want to recolor into the recoloring program?

I know, it has been awhile before anyone has posted here tricrazy.gif

Hey, I have read your instructions and find them easy to understand and helpful, however I had difficulty understanding a part from the Re-Coloring animals section. Specificaly, instructions 35 through 40. I'm having trouble deciphering which folder you want me to copy stuff into and such. If you could explain these steps more thoroughly for me, i'd be forever in your debt.
