Okay this tutorial is to teach you the ins and outs of a ztd file. You'll also discover what uca, ucs, and ai files are and where they go. This only covers animal and scenery ztd files! Step 1: The Extension Before you can even get into a ztd file, you have to first unzip it. To unzip it, you got to know how to edit the extension. This is really pretty easy. Just follow these steps:
Now that you've made the extension of your ztd file visible, you can edit it. Simply rename the .ztd part of the your creation to .zip Here is a pic of the Tools incase you don't know where it is: http://209.85.12.227/436/178/upload/p542044.png |

Step 2: Unzipping Now you have changed your creation to a "Zipped Folder." To open the zipped folder, you need a program designed especially for compressed/zipped folders. If you don't have one, a free trial version can be found here: http://www.winzip.com/ Right-click the zipped folder and choose extract. If you use WinZip, highlight "Winzip" and choose "Extract to..." Then extract it. A new folder will be created. That is what you'll be editting. The zipped folder is no longer important. http://209.85.12.227/436/178/upload/p542051.png |

Step 3: Finding the UCA File (Animals Only) If you're not making an animal, you can skip this. Now all that matters is that new folder that got created when you unzipped. The folders in it should not be rearranged in any way. Go inside the folder once. You will find a folder called "animals". Go in that folder. You'll find a folder named after your animal's id number. It can vary and be very different to the one shown in the picture below. Next to the folder should be an unknown file that has the same name as the folder. The only difference is the ".uca" at the end. This is your uca file, where all the settings are stored. You can easily open this with Notepad. Right-click it and choose "Open." Choose Notepad and be sure to check the box next to "Always Use the Selected Program..." before clicking Okay. Inside are lines filled with commands, but that's a different topic. You have now figured out how to open your ztd and where the uca file is. http://209.85.12.227/436/178/upload/p542063.png |

Step 3: Finding the UCS File (Scenery Only) If you're not making a scenery object, skip this post. Now all that matters is that new folder that got created when you unzipped. The folders in it should not be rearranged in any way. Go inside the folder once. You will find a folder called "scenery". Go in that folder. You'll find another folder named "objects." Go in that folder. There, you'll find files named with a mix of numbers and letters; that is your object's id number. It can greatly vary and be very different from the one shown in the picture below. This is your uca file, where all the settings are stored. You can easily open this with Notepad. Right-click it and choose "Open." Choose Notepad and be sure to check the box next to "Always Use the Selected Program..." before clicking Okay. Inside are lines filled with commands, but that's a different topic. You have now figured out how to open your ztd and where the ucs file is. http://209.85.12.227/436/178/upload/p542071.png |

Step 4: Rezipping Once you're done editting, save and keep clicking the back button at the top-left of the window until you get back to the main folder. You should have in front of you: For Animal - the "animals" folder. For Scenery - the "objects" folder and "scenery" folder. Click and drag to select all the folders. Right-click one of the folders (don't end up having only one highlighted!). If you have WinZip, highlight "Winzip" and click "Add to Zip File." Click okay. If you have a different program, add it to a zip file the way you usually do. Now all you have to do is rename the ".zip" extension back to ".ztd" You are done and your creation is ready to use. http://209.85.12.227/436/178/upload/p542089.png |
