Best Pocket Camera So Far? Sony RX100

September 18th, 2012 | Posted by pftq in Blabberbox | #
I haven't been following cameras that closely but just saw this today.
http://www.amazon.com/Sony-DSC-RX100-Sensor-Digital-Camera/dp/B00889ST2G/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1348019580&sr=8-2&keywords=sony+rx1

Apparently it's also very small like any other pocket camera but has 20 megapixels (+2 times the usual sensor size for image quality) instead of the usual 10-12.  When did that happen? Huh

Scary - can't wait to see when pocket cameras beat professional cameras Grin

omg! 20 mp pocket size with decent sensor o.O
the only down side is its video quality is lower than your Cannon s100
    but still pretty amazing lol

lol I think it probably doesn't matter when both cameras have HD video already.
And... decent sensor = twice the sensor of the next best compact camera right now (meaning it can *really* take pictures at night w/o blur or noise).  Lips Sealed

Can you do a post about camera megapixels?

I still can't decide whether more mega-pixels is a good or bad thing,
and am too lazy to google it.
Also, if you've got a lot of megapixels and a good sensor, does this mean
the camera won't blur your images if someone is moving?

    Need. new. camera. Help.

MP is like the size of your sheet of paper.

Sensor size is like how much ink your spreading on it.

Bigger both is best but sensor size being bigger trumps MP. Imagine having to color a huge poster with just a pen. But you also don't want huge sensor size with few MP. Otherwise it is just like making a very high quality postcard (too small).

Right now the best pocket camera is Sony RX100, then Canon S100/110.

I would go for the Canon S100 or S95 because they everything above S95 have the same image quality pretty much but sell very cheap since they are older models. They have them on Amazon new.

Canon S100 is only $250 for the same specs as the Canon S110 which is $400
