Learning Java

June 19th, 2007 | Posted by pftq in Blabberbox | #

Will be taking Java at a college this summer.   Thought it was Javascript at first, but ah well.   The two are close enough I think.

I’m trying to look at a few tutorials and know a bit of it before I start the course though.   Currently, I’m just using the the main Java Tutorials off the official site, but if anyone knows some other good tutorials, do let me know.   Thanks!

Click Race

June 11th, 2007 | Posted by pftq in 42 | #

The object of the game is to click the Click Me! links to go to the next page. If you aren't quick enough, you get sent back to the previous page. Each page gives you less and less time to click the link. There are 10 pages; the page number is displayed in the page name.
Very basic and html pages.  Just something I made way back in 2006... when I didn't know any web design... and when I didn't know any better. Tongue

MTV Movie Spoof Contest

May 19th, 2007 | Posted by pftq in Blabberbox | #

Several of my friends have created two videos for MTV’s Movie Spoof competition.   I helped them edit the video here and there.   This was 4 weeks worth of work, none stop - including mis-schedulings,  certain unreliable people, and the fact it takes hours for just a minute of video to save! :O

The videos have been submitted to mtvmovieawards.yahoo.com, so they should be up soon.   Look for these two by jfk_mmc:

One Equals 0.99999...

April 29th, 2007 | Posted by pftq in 42 | #

Confusing math…
I came across this a few times. They say once you go into Calculus, it’s understandable, but me having not gone that far, find this pretty strange…
x = 0.99999…
10x = 9.99999…
10x-x = 9.99999……[More]

Photo Competition

April 28th, 2007 | Posted by pftq in Blabberbox | #

Sorry been fading away lately.   Very busy meself. :(

However, I did have time to create a photo montage, but only because that’s an assignment given by my art teacher.   The photo will be submitted to a competition.   This is my first time using Photoshop to edit photos.   Constructive critisism would be great. :D

Barely Made It Back

April 7th, 2007 | Posted by pftq in Blabberbox | #

Bah, last time I’m riding a plane for a long time.   First we get delayed because the co-pilot got stuck in a traffic jam.   Then the plane arrives late for the connection and we barely make it in time for the next flight.   When we finally get home, the luggage is missing! They say they’ll deliver it to our home as soon as they find it.   Shame I had pretty much everything in there. <_<

Spring Break

March 30th, 2007 | Posted by pftq in Blabberbox | #

Gonna be gone the entire spring break.   I might drop in once in a while depending on if I have internet access where I’m at - though I probably won’t stay on long enough to do anything.   Please do not email me during the break unless it’s really important - I don’t want to browse through 5 pages of junk when I get back.   Thanks!

France Releases All UFO Info

March 23rd, 2007 | Posted by pftq in Blabberbox | #

France puts secret UFO archive on web

Found this article.   Looks like the government is, for certain, hiding some things afterall.   It’s a pretty interesting read and summary of what exactly is on the site.   There’s access to every single UFO-related case in France - so definitely something you can dig through if you like that sort of stuff or you’re bored.

The site takes forever to load though (probably because it is very popular at the moment; Yahoo states it is receiving tons of visitors at once).   Also, the entire site is in French.

Tree Warriors

February 12th, 2007 | Posted by pftq in Stories | #
The great and powerful tree stood proud and tall.   The rebels of men shuddered under its might.   For centuries, man has struggled in vain against the growing power of trees, but now, man has gathered enough strength, enough courage, to rid themselves of the trees once and for all!

And so the tree deployed its minions, the grassblades, against the evercoming rebels.   The men roared and screamed at the sight of the seemingly infinite number of enemies before them.   At last, they realized to their horror; they were painfully outnumbered.

But fear not! For the rebels had been well prepared and a secret weapon was at their disposal.   One of the lowly rebels scurried quickly and returned with the long awaited... lawnmower.   And with this lawnmower, the rebels advanced, plowing through the endless fields of grass, charging through flying grassroots and chunks of dirt and mud.

Fort Wars Almost Lagfree

January 28th, 2007 | Posted by pftq in Blabberbox | #

After a few hours work, I’ve managed to create a single trigger (opposed to the original 30) that controlled every single spawn line.   Originally, each spawnline had its own constantly looping function, and each player had his/her own set.   You’d have around 30*Players number of looping triggers every moment.

Now I managed to combine them all, so you have only 1*Players, a maximum of 8 at any given time on an 8 player map.     This should drastically reduce the lag of any Fort Wars game.

Hopefully I finish 3.1 soon and release. :D

Boy's Scream Kills Hundred of Chickens...

January 25th, 2007 | Posted by pftq in Blabberbox | #

Article: Boy’s Screaming Kills Chickens

That’s just one of the weirdest things I’ve read in a long time.   Apparently, a dog scared a boy, who in turn screamed and scared hundreds of chickens to death.   Sounds like something right off of Jelly Pickle.

Fort Wars 3.1 Fixed!

January 22nd, 2007 | Posted by pftq in Blabberbox | #

Tried a few more times to fix what I had already.   First game went well until 20 minute mark and it synced out.   The rest of the games synced out within 10 minutes.   I went through and redid all the changes from 3.0 onward again.   So far no problems - but that’s a serious lost of time wasted on the damn problem. :(
